INTRODUCTION
MACI manufactures and sells a Light Emitting Diode (LED) which is a semiconductor device that converts electricity into light. LED lighting has been around since the 1960’s, however, it is just now beginning to appear in the commercial and industrial markets for space lighting. Over the past decade a major effort has been undertaken to develop alternative and renewable sources of energy. The most promising of these efforts is solar energy which does not have any negative environmental effects and has the potential for the greatest financial return. More than one billion human beings do not have access to electricity or use generators which are expensive, noisy, and cause pollution. According to the projections of the International Energy Outlook the world consumption of electricity will double between 2003 and 2030. Consumption of electricity is projected to increase an average of 2.7% annually from 14,781 billion kilowatt hours in 2003 to 21,699 billion kilowatt hours in 2015 and will reach 30,116 billion kilowatt hours in 2030. The photovoltaic solar energy industry has grown exponentially since the year 2000 and recorded 62% growth in 2007. The growth has come in spite of the fact that under current conditions the use of solar energy to create electricity is only profitable when the government subsidies are enacted. The efficiency of existing commercial systems for the production of electricity from solar energy is about 12%-17% with an associated cost of $5 USD per watt. It is very difficult to reduce this cost with the existing technology. Once the technology is developed to produce electricity from solar energy at the same cost as fossil fuels, the energy industry will experience a transformational revolution. All our LED lights are ul listed and approved by the U.S. Department of Energy.
Objectives
MACI’s objectives are twofold:
- To identify the need to replace the current lighting infrastructure with extremely high efficiency LED retro-fit system. Our consultation solution will help analyze current monthly lighting expenditures and the cost of replacement for the purpose of proposing a more efficient solution that will help cut monthly lighting usage expenditures by 90% that will in turn convert the liability for the lighting expense into pure profit or ROI, helping free up resources and redirect them into other areas of profitability.
- To develop, manufacture, and market solar panels for the production of electricity from the sun’s rays by causing innovative technology for the concentration and conversion of light. The technology will enable electricity to be produced at a high efficiency-low price threshold without causing environmental side effects. Our new generation of solar panels integrate highly efficient photovoltaic cells to provide significant cost reductions.
Advantages LED LIGHTS a. LED lights are highly efficient. Various estimates of potential energy savings range from 82% to 93%. By way of an example, it is estimated that replacing incandescent lamps in all of America’s approximately 226,000 traffic signals (red, yellow, green) could reduce energy consumption by nearly 2.5 billion kilowatts. b. LED lights do not contain mercury, Flourocarbons or any other harmful substances. c. Some LED lights are projected to produce a long service life of 100,000 hours which is roughly 20 times more longevity than most lighting systems today. For this reason LED’s are ideal for hard-to-reach and maintain fixtures such as exit signs, warehouse lighting, street lighting and many other commercial and industrial building lighting. d. UL Approved and U.S. Department of Energy certification. e. LED lights produce no UV radiation and very little heat compared with regular bulbs. f. LED lights are highly rugged. They contain no filament that can be damaged due to shock or vibrations.
SOLAR POWER AND WIND MILLS
- MAC1’s solar panels use a unique sun lighting technology that are especially efficient on a cost-benefit basis. Absorption takes place from any angle of the static plate position – no active sun tracking is needed. Sunlight is captured on a flexible or rigid plate using advanced optical properties which concentrates only the visible light directly to the solar cells. The light is also channeled at any angle perpendicular to the surface and is collected by a relatively small and highly efficient array of photovoltaic cells.
- In this way the cell surface area is significantly reduced which results in a much lower production cost.
- Since the concentration is only applied to the visible light, the system is very stable to changes in temperatures and does not necessitate the cooling of the cells.
- MAC1’s panels outperform competing products.
- MAC1’s panels have a lower cost of apparatus than competing products.
- MAC1’s panels produce more electricity throughout a 24 hour period by generating electricity during the hours of the day when the sunlight is weaker or indirect.
- Can be easily adapted for use inside of building through either vertical installation or with roof tile installation.
ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION IN THE WORLD ECONOMY
International consumption of electricity is projected to double by 2030. This increase will be fueled by the growing economies of developing nations. A massive expansion of production capacity will need to take place in order to meet growing world demand for electricity. Much of the growth in capacity will take place within the alternative energy sector due to technological advancement, environmental concerns, and government regulations. The supplemental supply of electricity from renewable sources is becoming a major component of national energy plans. Such plans are supported by legislation, research and development grants, and consumer subsidies. These strategies aim to reduce and eventually eliminate reliance upon fossil fuels for energy production by encouraging consumers to utilize electricity from solar sources. According to forecasts by the World Bank, the international market for solar energy systems will exceed $100 billion by the year 2017.a significant part of the market growth will be derived not only from industrialized countries, but also from developing countries equipping themselves with electricity from solar energy. According to leading photovoltaic solar system producers, the photovoltaic solar market will grow at an average annual rate of 30%.
